In honor of Jack Kerouac’s 102nd birthday, Lowell Celebrates Kerouac presents a FREE documentary screening on (some of) the history of the creation of Lowell’s beautiful and unique ‘Jack Kerouac Park & Commemorative’ in 1988.

What was at French & Bridge Streets before the park? How did the initiative to create the park begin, and how did it gain momentum? Who chose the design of the commemorative?

These questions and more will be answered in this film, shot in October 2018 during the LCK! Fall Festival Annual ‘Commemorative at the Commemorative’ event honoring the 30th anniversary of the dedication of the park & commemorative.

LCK! founding members Brian Foye, Richard Scott and former LNHP Superintendent Peter Aucella, who had been the construction project manager for the park & commemorative’s creation, all relate various and intimate perspectives on this fascinating chapter of local Downtown Lowell history.

The screening is for all ages, free, and open to the public.

Doors open at 6:15pm, and the film begins at 7pm. Lowell Celebrates Kerouac will offer light refreshments, coffee, and a Jack Kerouac birthday cake (*March 12, 1922) in a brief post-screening lobby reception.
