Reverend Stephen D. Edington will read a chapter from his new book The Gospel According to Jack: Tracking Kerouac In My Life called “Who Am I This Lilac Evening?” It is Steve’s commentary on the section of On The Road in which Kerouac refers to himself as “a white man disillusioned.”

Dr. Keith B. Mitchell, associate professor of English, at UMASS Lowell, will offer a scholarly response, which will be followed by an open discussion in which all are invited to participate.

Afterwards, a Kerouac birthday cake and light refreshments will be served.
